About

Winner of the 2015th TD Grand Jazz Prize Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival, this young, creative and very talented quintet was founded by trumpeter Rachel Therrien in 2009 and figures as one of the most original jazz ensembles of its generation. Formed by Simon Page on bass, Alain Bourgeois on drums, Charles Trudel on piano and Benjamin Deschamps on alto sax, Rachel Therrien’s Quintet has certainly been building a unique sound over the last 8 years of playing together. With already two records out, (On Track, 2011; Home Inspiration, 2014) and a third one on its way, this Quintet has been touring all over Canada, taking on the most prestigious Jazz Festivals and clubs.

Winner of the 2016th Stingray Jazz Rising Star Award at Halifax Jazz Festival, Winner of 2015th TD Grand Jazz Award, Popular vote at the 2011 Rimouski Jazz Festival, and many reviews from downbeat magazine, All About Jazz and more.
